SCOPE OF WORKS

Single Storey Extension, Large Knockthrough and fitting of contemporary kitchen in SpringHead, Oldham.
By MAP Builders in Oldham.

This single storey brick extension in Oldham was designed to allow maximum use of light as well as providing uninterupted views of the scenary, whilst maintaining privacy within the living space.

The large amount of glazing involved with this extension meant that wall and floor areas receieved extra insulation to assure that the required U-values where acheieved and the room remained comfortable all year round.

The external walls where built of a facing brick to match the existing walls and close attention was made to mortar joints and brickwork to ensure that the extension seemed to flow seemlessly with the existing house.

To allow the installatio of a single pitch roof without interfering with upstairs windows a low roof pitch was installed which involved a belt and braces approach when installing the roof by doubling up felt and deeper headlaps of tiles, this was complemented by the bespoke leading of the ridge tiles.

Internally 2 Large steel beams where inserted at first floor level within the depths of the floor joists to provide support to the brickwork and floor above the kitchen whilst also acheving an unbroken ceiling through the kitchen and new extension..

The extension was further complemented by a high gloss contemporary kitchen with white granite worktop with a large central island with built in wine cooler and hob.

After final internal works where finished decoration and subtle interior finishes where added to give this extension a sleek and modern feel.

Still to come : White granite tiles will be installed throughout the downstairs of the property to allow the contemporary feeling to flow thoughout the downstairs rooms.
